Nathan Towers
A beautiful day for golf saw the Greene County boys’ finish in the middle of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference golf Tournament on Tuesday east of State Center at Lincoln Valley Golf Course. Junior Nathan Towers was tenth with an 18 hole score of 82, earning him All-Conference honors.
PCM (Monroe) won the team title with 316 strokes, just two better than Nevada at 318. South Hamilton (Jewell) was third at 338 with Roland-Story (Story City) next at 347, and the Rams in fifth at 349. West Marshall had 350 strokes with 366 for Grand View Christian (Des Moines), Saydel (Des Moines) 371, and Perry did not have the minimum four golfers required for a team score.
The other three players from Greene County and that had their scores count in the team total were junior Drew Wolterman at 85, freshman Louis Schneider 89, and a 91 from freshman Keaton Hinote.
Coach Kyle Kinne told Raccoon Valley Radio the course had tough hole placements on tough greens. “Great day, but we didn’t putt well,” he added.
