The Perry City Council met in regular session on Monday.
According to Marketing and Engagement Coordinator Chris Cohea, the meeting began by swearing in the newest officer, Tyson Dahlberg, to the Perry Police Department. Cohea outlines that the council then approved an agreement with DGR Engineering for an independent fee estimate in the amount of $4,750 for work on the Runway 14/32 Reconstruction to Parallel Taxiway A at the Perry Municipal Airport, and a resolution for an economic development loan agreement between Perry Economic Development Incorporated and Perry Industries Incorporated to extend a payment due date from April 30th to May 19th.
Additional approved items included a resolution for the plans, specifications, form of contract, and cost estimate for the Parallel Taxiway A reconstruction with Bolton and Menk to install a 35-foot wide and 4,000 foot long runway as well as a new connector at the Municipal Airport. Along with that, Cohea mentioned that a public hearing is set for 6pm on June 2nd to discuss the bids for the project. The council also approved the site plan for the Blue Jay Electrical Substation to be installed at the Perry Industrial Park by the Guthrie County Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and a resolution with Guthrie County REC to accept driveway and sidewalk agreements then consent to permit barbed wire fencing around the Blue Jay electrical substation.
Cohea said the council also held second for ordinances to add a subsection to chapter 96 in order to build sewers and connections with interceptor inspections to occur on an annual basis, then another ordinance relating to the Municipal Airport, specifically with runway road conditions, maintaining a clean facility, and monitoring how pilots utilize the hangars. Mayor Dirk Cavanaugh waived the third reading on both ordinances, which were then adopted.
