The lone Perry track meet of the week will be tonight.  Perry will meet their Heart of Iowa foes tonight at West Marshall High School in State Center at 4:30P.

The Bluejays and Jayettes have seen majority of their conference counterparts throughout the regular season.  The one exception being, first year member, Grand View Christian.  The Perry girls are coming off a fourth place finish in Boone last week while the boys claimed sixth in that same meet.

The Jayettes won three gold medals in last season’s conference meet.  Lily Myers will look to defend her top spot in the 3000M and 400M Hurdles.  Perry also had the best Sprint Medley time and return all four members of that relay.  The Jayettes have been strong in numerous relays all season and should be able to pick up additional points for the team portion in those events.  Girl’s track coach, Matthew Hardy, tells Raccoon Valley Radio they hope to be competitive, but today is just another meet.  “Hopefully we’ll have a great showing. Not going to try to load everything up.  Just kind of conserve a couple of girls for the following week’s state qualifying meet which is a little bit more important than the conference meet, but you know hopefully we end up with probably a top three finish at the conference meet.”

The Bluejays were shut out of the top podium spot in 2024.  Renzo Saenz in the 100M and Owen Myers in the 400M Hurdles each settled for silver.  Both guys return hungry to claim a conference championship.

Field events begin at 4:30P with track events starting at 5P for the Heart of Iowa Conference meet in State Center.
