Perry boy’s soccer will host Gilbert tonight. Dewey Field will feature a top ten battle in 2A in this matchup that you’ll be able to hear on 94.3, 99.7, AM 1310 KDLS.
The Bluejays entered the week ranked 9th in the 2A polls. Perry has already secured a conference win over Grand View Christian on Tuesday, 12-2. The Tigers are ranked 2nd in 2A. No team has been able to knock off Gilbert so far. These two clubs combine for 18 wins and just one loss. The Tigers have also surrendered just two goals all season. The Bluejays’ potent offense led by Jonathan Banuelos and Jacobo Cerna-Gomez will be tested tonight. Banuelos comes in scoring in five straight matches and 17 total goals in those contests.
Gilbert has won the last three contests against Perry including 3-1 last year. Perry coach, Gary Overla, tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this will be a good measuring stick match and shares what makes Gilbert so good. “They possess the midfield. The midfield is theirs. They kind of own the midfield. They have done a real good job at shutting people down and while shutting other people down they create nice counter attacks”
Kickoff is set for 7P for Perry versus Gilbert. The Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network and KDLS will have the broadcast.
