The 6th Annual Safety Bike Rodeo is happening in the City of Adel today.

According to Adel Police Officer Monte Keller, the department along with the Adel Rotary Club is welcoming youth 5-12 years of age to learn about bike safety as the summer approaches. He describes that there will be safety stations set up at the event for residents to stop by as well as Bike World doing free bike and helmet inspections. Keller indicates how the stations will operate.

“We discuss with kids the importance of stopping, looking both ways after the stop sign or if they’re leaving their driveway, how to turn (and) there’s a few different stations where you work on basic bike control.”

Keller expresses that youth will be able to get free Icees and there will be prize drawings for the Adel Rotary Club, Adel Family Fun Center, Billy’s Ice Cream, and more. He mentions that people will need to be present to win the drawings. The event is happening today from 9-11am at the Adel City Hall Parking Lot, located at 301 S. 10th Street.
