Guthrie County Hospital recognized some of their nurses and a patient care technician Wednesday.

The hospital held their annual Diseases Attacking the Immune SYStem (DAISY) and Sunshine Awards. Those nominated for the DAISY Award, an award that internationally recognizes nurses who go above and beyond, showing extreme kindness and compassion to their patients. This year’s nominees were Kassie Cline, Jenna Deist, Jentry Hise, Nicole Esslinger and Dale Peterson, with Shannon Haus winning the award. The Sunshine Award is a recognition of auxiliary staff, those who help the nurses, and who also show remarkable care for those in their charge. The 2025 Sunshine Award Recipient was LaRoyce Kress. Both Haus and Kress were nominated by the widow of a patient, thanking them for helping care for her husband in his final days, and making them more bearable.
