Perry soccer returns to Dewey Field tonight for their third straight top 10 matchup.  The Bulldogs from Van Meter come to Perry for Senior Night.  The Bluejays have dropped their last two outings against stiff competition.  First to Gilbert followed by a Saturday loss to Urbandale, 3-1.  Perry will look to avoid their first three game losing streak of the season.

The Bluejays have nine seniors on the roster, who be celebrated before the 7P kickoff.  The 9th ranked Bluejays in 2A enter tonight 9-3-3.  The Bulldogs, ranked 6th in the 1A polls, are 12-1-1.  Gary Overla tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Van Meter has built a very strong program over the years.  “Van Meter might be small, but they’re a fantastic team.  I mean you know that if you take their soccer team and compare it to the like say their football team it’s not the same comparison.  I mean, they’re not as dominant as Van Meter football, but you know they’re pretty dang good.  They went to State last year I believe as a qualifier and you know did fairly well.”

Forward, Janathon Banuelos will be one of the seniors celebrated tonight.  The team’s leading scorer will look to lead Perry to victory in his final regular season outing at Dewey Field.  Senior keeper, Diego Velasco, will also be tested against a Bulldog team that averages over 4 goals a game.

Kickoff is set for 7P at Dewey Field for Van Meter and Perry.
