With the summer season quickly approaching, Dallas County Hospital shares crucial areas the organization will be targeting.
Director of Public Relations, Marketing and Foundation Tom Harmsen explains that providers are stressing the importance of skin care to prevent overexposure of the sun as temperatures continue to rise. With that, he keys in on dehydration being an issue where people fail to drink enough fluids over the course of a day.
Harmsen mentions that consuming about 15 cups of water for men and 11 cups of water for women is ideal in order for the body to function properly as it helps transport nutrients and oxygen, regulate body temperature, as well as eliminating waste from the digestive system. As the school year winds down, Harmsen is already thinking ahead and encouraging students to get their annual physical exams prior to the next school year.
“We certainly don’t want athletes to have to delay competition. So getting in over the summer and getting those completed, as well as stopping in to see our new patient access area.”
Additionally, Harmsen reveals DCH will be hosting a Health Care Expo in late July to educate Iowans about the services that the hospital covers in rural Dallas County.
