The Greene County High School Commencement Ceremony is taking place this Sunday.
According to High School Principal Karen Shannon about 84 seniors are expected to graduate this Sunday and the valedictorians are Hailey Carman, Kamden Kinne and Ella Shipley. She notes that Shipley was also named the salutatorian. Carman talks about the importance of doing well in school and how that can help lead to a better future for students.
“It’s just really important because obviously it’s nice to do well in school. But it also just teaches you that you need to work hard, and you’re going to have to work hard in the real world after high school. And it’s also a lot of balancing, like your home life, extra-curriculars, and school.”
High School Counselor Allison Wenck says the Class of 2025 earned more than $384,000 of scholarships at the Senior Awards Night last week, which was the most she has seen in her tenure with the school district. She points out there was also a record amount of scholarships submitted this year which is wonderful to see all of the support coming from the community. Wenck is proud of this year’s senior class with the diverse range of talents and she appreciates working with them throughout their high school careers.
The graduation ceremony will take place at 2pm on Sunday at the high school gym.
