The Perry High School Theater Department recently announced several recognitions from its spring musical.
According to Musical Director Jenn Hillman, several students will perform in the 2025 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase, as well as some awards from this past April’s production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that senior Hunter Ayers was selected to perform with other students as part of an inter-school medley with guest Broadway music director Christopher Littlefield and choreographer Tiger Brown. Hillman notes that two other seniors, Ethan Jackson and Olivia Christensen will be performing specific scenes from the school production.
She adds that Ayers is also recognized with the Outstanding Achievement in a Principal Role Award for his part of William Barfee, Christensen earned the Special Recognition in a Principal Role Award as Olive Ostrovsky and the cast has been selected for the Distinguished Scene Award for “I Love You Song.” Hillman describes the showcase happening at the Des Moines Civic Center on May 29th at 7pm, with tickets available for purchase for $15, starting this Friday at 10am.
