Greene County 4-H’ers are reminded of important deadlines that are coming up for animal exhibitors ahead of this year’s county fair.
Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says this Thursday is the deadline for all 4-H’ers to identify any animal on 4-H Online in order to show at the Greene County Fair or the Iowa State Fair. She notes that rabbit and poultry do not have to be identified until July 1st so that rabbits can be tattooed and poultry pullorum testing can be done.
Hardaway talks about another item that must be done by Thursday.
“And then any youth showing any species at the fair, with the exception of dog and horse, must complete YQCA (Youth for Quality Care of Animals). So that can be done online.”
Hardaway adds that the final item that must be done by Thursday is letting her know about sizes for the county fair t-shirts that will be sent to be printed the next day. Contact Hardaway via email at hardaway@iastate.edu or calling the Greene County Extension Office in Jefferson at 515-386-2138.
