The Perry Fine Arts is gearing up for their May concert, coming up on Sunday.

According to Perry Fine Arts Chairperson Cathy Clark, the Heartland Youth Choir will be stopping by the Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th Street on Sunday at 2pm for a free concert. She shares that the program allows youth of diverse backgrounds with a particular aptitude in vocal music to explore their interest beyond the school setting. Clark describes that both the chamber choir and the cantamus choir will take the stage. She elaborates on the qualities of each group.

“The cantamus choir is the most advanced tremble choir. In this level, singers learn to work three or four parts tremble harmony and advanced music reading skills. The chamber choir is the most musically advanced ensemble of the Heartland Youth Choir. It focuses the reading skills and exposure to diverse works. The chamber choir is committed to musical excellence and is related to rehearsal and performance.”

Clark reveals that the cantamus choir will feature junior high students, while the chamber choir is composed of eighth to twelfth graders. She notes that the concert will be free of charge and open to the public.
