The Dallas County Fair will have a sharper look to the entrance this year.

The Dallas County Fair Association was able to purchase a brand new digital sign that is located near the fairgrounds in Adel. According to Fair Board Secretary Sherry James, the association had a plastic sign for about 25 years that the letters would need to be manually changed, but within the last few years have found the sign began to deteriorate.

She comments the association made the decision to buy a digital sign, especially after seeing so many like it around the community. James tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Dallas County Foundation allocated some funding that they received from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation and awarded a $10,000 grant together to help with the sign. She unveils some cool features about what the sign can do.

“There’s a beautiful new brick (that) has been installed on the columns of the sign that just makes it look absolutely amazing. With it being wireless, it makes it very easy to change the message that’s out there on the board, and we’ve had a lot of compliments from people going by and making posts on Facebook that they really like it.”

James shares the sign is located along Highway 169 and the Frontage Road into the Dallas County Fairgrounds on the outskirts of Adel.
