Following the recent announcement that the director for Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC), Ken Paxton, is stepping down at the end of May, the organization is already looking over any and all options for a replacement.

GCDC President Scott Weber says they are not discrediting any of their membership’s ideas at this time about how to go about hiring a new director or what that position could look like. Some of the examples that Weber shares included doing a nation-wide search, joining with an Alliance group within Iowa, or even looking within the borders of the county and see if there is an individual that could take the reins. He explains an ideal timeline that he would like to see GCDC head towards.

“The group will probably make a decision on which route we want to go in the next 30 days, I’m hoping. Then after that, once a decision is made (on) which direction we want to go, it’s going to take us a time. If we decide to do a national (search for a) director, we got to set up all the interviews, and have them come here and do all those things, and that’ll take a bit of time. I would hope that within the next 90 days that we’re heading down our new path, and getting things going here.” 

Weber is grateful for the funding that GCDC receives from all of its entities as he vows to continue to uphold transparency with those groups, businesses, organizations and individuals.

“So I’ve always said we want to make sure that we’re doing the best with every dollar that we have. And so as we take a step back and look at all these different options that we have in front of us, we’re going to be a good steward of the dollar here. And make sure that the decision that we do go down, that all of our key stakeholders are in agreeance with the path that we’re going down, and to make sure that they agree with the direction that we’re heading.   

Weber adds that at this time, GCDC has not decided to name an interim director, but that he has taken the initiative to carry on some projects, while pausing on others.
