Perry boy’s soccer is searching for third straight trip to the State Tournament.  The postseason brackets were just released and the Bluejays are a top seed.  Perry will get to play at Dewey Field for the opening rounds as a reward.

The Bluejays finished the regular season 9-4-3.  That earned them the one seed in Substate 3 in 2A.  Perry will receive a first round bye and will await the winner of Benton Community and South Tama County.  The other side of the bracket will see Gladbrook-Reinbeck against Ballard with the winner advancing to see Knoxville.  The first round games will be played Tuesday, May 20.  The second round would commence on Tuesday, May 27 and the Substate Final will take place on Thursday, May 29.

The winner of the Substate will advance to the State Tournament and be one of just eight schools alive for a championship.  New in 2025, the quarterfinals will be hosted locally by the higher seeds.  The semifinals will take place at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines and so will the title games.

The Bluejays will be well rested as their final regular season game was on Monday, May 12 and they will not play again until Tuesday, May 27.  Perry is led by senior Jonathan Banuelos with 22 goals and Jacobo Cerna-Gomez has chipped in 14.  The Heart of Iowa Conference Champions are battled tested after matching up with four clubs that are one seeds and playing another three teams who earned two seeds.
