The Greene County Historical Society is inviting people to attend a program on Sunday that harkens back to the two World Wars.

According to the organization, several presenters will share letters that were written by prominent figures of the county and to their relatives during World War I and World War II. One of the guest speakers is Mikki Schwarzkopf of Jefferson, who will talk about letters from E.B. Wilson, who served as a YMCA liaison in southern France during WWI and the interactions he had with the soldiers. Wilson Avenue in Jefferson is named after him.

Next, will be Margaret Hamilton of Jefferson, and she will present letters from her father, Albert Hamilton, who was injured in an Army training accident in 1943, during WWII. The final speaker will be Denise O’Brien Van of Jefferson, whose father, Cle and her uncle Maurice wrote letters during WWII to their parents about their time serving in England.

The free program takes place Sunday at 2pm at the Historical Museum in Jefferson.
