Greene County Medical Center wrapped up National Hospitals Week by hosting a public event Friday morning.
Java and Juice with Jefferson Matters saw about 50 people learn about the medical center and the importance of National Hospitals Week, along with the expansion of services, including one announcement about the return of a service beginning in November. GCMC CEO Chad Butterfield referred to their saying “every team member is as equally important as the next” for not only National Hospitals Week, but on a daily basis. He said that National Hospitals Week gave everyone the opportunity to thank and show gratitude to every team member within the medical center.
Butterfield emphasized the importance of what the medical center means to the community of Jefferson and Greene County.
“We understand the responsibility that’s associated with being here and being able to be fiscally responsible as a county hospital, and to be able to find those services and really be that entry into healthcare for our community. And that’s our goal and that’s what we’re constantly trying to do.”

Butterfield highlighted the different services that expanded options for county residents through different partnerships with other healthcare facilities, such as oncology, gastrointestinal, bringing in a general surgeon, opening the Wound Care Clinic this month, and bringing back cataract services starting in November. He added that food was the main feature during National Hospitals Week that included breakfast provided on Monday, having a picnic on Wednesday, the Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary bought pizza for the team members on Thursday, and a mobile snack cart on Friday.
