The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council tabled the first reading of an ordinance amending city Code regarding parking for personal and recreational vehicles, then heard from Little Charger Early Learning Center Board Members Bethany McCool and Laura Robson. The two shared that construction on the new facility has been finished for nearly a year, and that they have a waiting list. They also mentioned that the construction loan used has matured, and that the outstanding balance needs to be rolled into an end loan. Robson and McCool asked if the City would be willing to sign on as a co-signer or guarantor, and the Council said they would first need to speak with their legal counsel before doing anything else, and no action was taken.

The Council also heard an inquiry from Jeff Ruhland on a special variance for some beef calves on property he owns that is not zoned for agricultural use, and did not take action so they could discuss with legal counsel. The Council then approved a $1 per hour increase for a wastewater employee who had finished his Wastewater I certification. They also heard from City Clerk Kris Arrasmith, who shared that the citywide garage sales would be June 13th and 14th, with sign up at City Hall, with a $5 fee for those who would like to be added to a participant map. She added that the citywide cleanup was scheduled for June 18th, with sign up for that also to be at City Hall, with a base registration fee of $25. The Council then rescheduled the next May meeting to be held on May 27th due to Memorial Day.
