track-and-field

The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the lists of At-Large qualifiers for the May 22-24 Coed State Meet to be held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Greene County had 10 events in all make it to State, five for girls and five for boys. Two of events for girls made it through At-large qualification,  meaning they were not first or second in Ogden at the 2A State Qualifying Meet, but were one of the eight best performances in 2A statewide that were not first or second.

The additions are junior Becca Anderson in the 200 meter dash and junior Kaycee Pittman in the 800 meter run. Anderson ran 22.05 seconds on Thursday and qualifies twenty-second in the field of 24 while Pitman covered the 800 meters in 2:26.47 and enters with the fifteenth fastest time.

Paton-Churdan had sophomore Trevon Keely qualify for the 200 meter dash in 22.75 seconds, qualifying him eleventh for the State Meet. He won both the long jump and high jump in Madrid on Thursday at a 1A qualifier, so Keely will take part in three events at State.
