Greene County and the Harlan Community Cyclones were to have met last night in a Class 1A high school girls’ soccer regional tournament first round match. The action in Harlan at Merrill Field was postponed until 5 p.m. today. It starts at 5 o’clock because the Cyclones already have a boys’ Substate soccer match at Merrill Field at 7 tonight. The Harlan Community girls have a .500 record at 8-8-1 while the Rams are 0-15.

The Greene County boys open Class 2A Substate play tonight at 7 at Linduska Field in Jefferson with MOC-Floyd Valley making the long trek to Greene County from Orange City. The Dutchmen are 2-8-3 while the Rams are 7-3-1. Greene County will be trying to extend its string of years with at least one postseason victory in boys’ soccer. The program here began in 2018 and every team has won one or more times in the postseason. There was no 2020 season due to the Pandemic.
