The three high schools in Guthrie County will be represented by student-athletes at the 2025 Iowa State Track Meet.

Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center has a total of 11 athletes between the boys and girls teams competing in 14 different events in Class 1A. For the boys, Brexton Schneider and Tate Fever will compete in the 110 meter high hurdles, with Fever also in the 400 meter hurdles and Eli Madsen taking part in the open 400 meter race. The team will also compete in five relays, with Joe Crawford, Schneider, Luke Brincks and Madsen competing in the 4X100 meter and shuttle hurdle relays.

Crawford, Tommy Skram, Brincks and Dean Vela will compete in the 4X200 meter relay, with Morgun Nolte, Fever, Skram and Schneider competing in the shuttle hurdle relay, and Brincks, Vela, Fever and Madsen representing the school in the 4X400 meter relay. Mike Fuller will represent AC/GC in the discus and shot put.

For the girls team, Cadence Petersen will take part in the 400 meter hurdles, while Ava Campbell will compete in the 800 meter and 1500 meter runs. Campbell and Petersen will both also take part in the distance medley relay, along with Nora Langgaard and Meranda Gruber. Chargers Girls Track and Field Head Coach Jacob Lacey shares what it means to have athletes who have already been to the State Meet before going this year as well.

“I mean, it is always nice to have some returning kids that have been there before, they kind of know what it’s all about and how it works is really good. You know, I think that’ll help with nerves and things like that. And I mean, maybe they’ll be running perhaps better this year than they did last year and they won’t be as nervous because they’ve kind of been there, done that type of thing.”

Panorama will have four athletes competing in three different events. Kylie Rochholz will compete individually in the 1500 meter and 3000 meter races. She will also participate in the distance medley relay along with Gracie and Faith Recker, and Maddy Lutz. Syler Shaffer will represent Panorama in the boys Class 2A 400 meter hurdles.

West Central Valley has one athlete competing in the Blue Oval during the State Meet. Willow Ray will compete in the open 200 meter dash, and the Class 2A high jump. The first day of the State Track Meet is Thursday, with the final day to be on Saturday. A full list of the athletes and their events, along with how they are seeded in those events can be found in this story online.
