Greene County and Paton-Churdan will have several events at the State Co-Ed Track and Field Meet later this week.

Greene County High School is sending ten events to state in Class 2A. Eight of those were either first or second place at the State Qualifying Meet that was previously held at Ogden. The boys team won three relays that included the distance medley, as well as the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relays. The other two from the State Qualifying Meet for the boys team were the field events with long jump and shot put. As for the girls team, they had three second place finishes at the State Qualifying Meet that included the discus, shot put and distance medley relay. The other two that qualified for state were at-large bids, which were those that were not first or second place at the qualifying meet, but were among the eight best performances across the state that were not first and second, and those were Becca Anderson in the 200 meters and Kaycee Pittman for the 800 meters.

Paton-Churdan  will have one lone student-athlete at the State Track and Field Meet, with Trevon Keely. He won the high jump and long jump at the State Qualifying Meet and was an at-large qualifier for the 200 meters.

The State Co-Ed Track and Field Meet will be held Thursday through Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Raccoon Valley Radio will have coverage of those events and the other surrounding high schools throughout the three-day meet.
