It has been a busy Spring for Perry athletics with six different sports going on.  Cate Erickson and Taryn Nehring  have kept busy by being on the track and soccer teams.

The duo was instrumental in Jayette track winning their first meet in over a decade.  Perry actually accomplished two first place finishes this year and also added a second at another meet.  Erickson and Nehring are also set to run the Distance Medley at the State Track Meet at 9A on Friday with Lily Myers and Treasure Moore.  Erickson, who is also an accomplished wrestler for Perry, has worked on keeping the two sports separate.

“Focusing on the bigger games or bigger meets and getting lots of sleep, staying healthy and just focusing on goals we have for each season helps to get through it.”

The future Viking added it has taken a lot out of her.

“Pretty stressful I guess.  Very physically exhausting.”

Nehring has started nine contests as a defenseman for Perry.  Erickson has scored two goals so far this season playing in ten matches.

Soccer playoffs begin Friday night with Storm Lake coming to Dewey Field.

Both girls are out for the softball and will begin competitions next week.
