The Iowa High School State Track and Field meet is currently happening at Drake Stadium in Des Moines through Saturday, as one of Adel-DeSoto-Minburn’s relay teams accomplished an incredible milestone on Thursday.

ADM has close to 50 athletes competing for Class 3A as the girls got off to a strong start, with the 4×100 meter shuttle hurdle team of Haley Nelson, Bella Smyth, Elise Coghlan, and Josi Dufoe hitting a state record in the preliminaries with a time of 1:02.61, qualifying for the finals that will take place on Saturday at 11:50am.

Other results from Thursday on the girls side include senior London Warmuth finishing second in the high jump going five feet and seven inches, juniors Lauren Hagedorn (125-00) and Taylor Braun (116-08) placed sixth and ninth respectively in the discus throw, junior Brecken Morse ran 1:01.08 in the 400 meters for 18th, freshman Elliotte Von Roden tallied 21st in the 3,000 meters (11:23.13), and the girls 4×800 meter relay ran 9:56.54 for 15th place.

For the Tiger boys, the 4×110 meter shuttle hurdle relay was disqualified for leaving a lane too early, taking away a first place finish. The 4×800 meter relay ran 8:18.20 for 15th, senior Kyler Chapman (6-01) and sophomore Reid Kluesner (6-01) tied for sixth in the high jump, senior Cameron Forgy (50.53) and junior Hudson Shull (51.34) were eighth and 16th in the 400 meter dash, freshman Zane Johnson ran 22.37 seconds for ninth place in the 200 meter dash prelims and 11 seconds for 13th in the 100 meter dash prelims.

ADM will have more athletes participating in events today and tomorrow. Stay tuned to Raccoon Valley Radio as we’ll bring you live updates from Drake Stadium.
