
Greene County High School junior Broc Stream finished in seventh place in the Class 2A boys’ long jump on Thursday at the Coed State Track & Field Meet in Des Moines at Drake Stadium. Stream leaped 21 feet, 1-1/2 inches on his second jump of the day. Until the May 15 State Qualifying Meet in Ogden, he had not topped the 21 mark, but he went more than 22 feet to qualify for State, and now has topped 21 to become a State place winner.
The boys’ 4 x 800 meter relay ran a season best time of 8:14.63 and placed eleventh with seniors Nick Stream, Crew Conner, Noah Hinote, and junior Drew Wolterman. Senior Kamden Kinne finished in tenth place in the boys’ shot put with a best toss of 51 feet, 3-1/2″ after tying for ninth place in the preliminary and advancing to the final.
Greene County’s girls had two events on Friday with senior Daniele Madsen placing twentieth in the shot put at 34 feet, 9-1/2 inches, and Becca Anderson placing sixteenth in the 200 meter dash preliminaries.
The girls will have Emma Ewalt in the discus throw today as well as the distance medley relay of Sarah Morlan, Addison Gannon, Anderson, and Kaycee Pittman. All four are juniors. Pittman will run the 800 meters tomorrow.
The boys have two relays today, one final and one prelim. The distance medley relay is a final with Broc Stream, sophomore Zack Stalder, Nick Stream, and Wolterman, and the preliminary of the 4 x 400 meter relay has Nick Stream, Broc Stream, senior Lane Fields, and Wolterman.
