With the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, there are several organizations throughout Dallas County that are holding services.

The Floyd Foster VFW Post 2060 Commander Matt Bramer announces they will have a Memorial Day Service in Perry at Veterans Memorial Park, off 8th Bateman Streets, at 1pm. He details that he will be delivering remarks, followed by a remembrance of the fallen soldiers over the past year, and conclude with a 21-gun salute. 

Adel American Legion Penoach Post 464 President Shirley McAdon notes their service will take place at the Adel Oakdale Cemetery at 9am. She indicates that Ron Gilliland will be the Master of Ceremonies and the service will feature a Raising of Colors by the Adel Scouts, along with the playing of the National Anthem, a prayer by Chaplain Roger Schlaefer, a Memorial Day address, a musical presentation, a Formation of Veterans, a Post the Honor Guard, a wreath presentation, a rifle salute, taps, a dismissal of veterans, a retirement of the Honor Guard, and the conclusion of the ceremony with the raising of the flag to full staff at noon.

The American Legion Osborne Post 99 in Minburn will conduct four observances to recognize veterans buried in three cemeteries in the area as well as the soldiers lost on water. Their services will be at 9:30am at the Brown Cemetery, at 10am over at the Kimrey Cemetery, at 10:30am over at the Elmwood Cemetery, and at 11am at the Raccoon River Bridge.

Other services happening in Dallas County include a service at 8am over at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Adel, as well as the Dallas Center American Legion and Auxiliary hosting their service at Memorial Park at 10am.
