Piper Messerly brings home the gold for the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs as the sophomore placed first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:52.08. This is the first gold medal for the Dallas Center-Grimes girls track team from the state tournament.

Messerly’s time places her 20th on the Iowa All-Time list of competitors in the 3000 meter run. Just a sophomore, Messerly still has two more years to grow and fine tune her abilities as a distance runner.
