Today there will be lots of bicyclists traveling around the central and eastern portions of Greene County.
The 5th Annual Bike Ride Around Greene County (BRAG) is taking place from 10am-4pm today. BRAG Committee member Dan Meythaler says several cyclists will be traveling on Old Highway 30 from the Thomas Jefferson Gardens, north on S Avenue to Spring Lake Park, then north to 209 Main in Paton, turning south onto Highway 144 to Dana, will then continue to head south to the 30 Yard Line in Grand Junction. The final stretch is back on Old Highway 30 to The Courtyard Wedding and Events Center in Jefferson.
Meythaler notes that they are telling the cyclists to ride in groups and give space for motorists to pass them. However, he also asks for motorists to be patient if they encounter cyclists on the roadway today.
“If you do see some people kind of off to the side and you’ve got some traffic coming at you, please just be patient for just a couple of seconds, and most of us will move over for you. We can tell when a car is coming up behind us, just not really fast.”
He adds that there is going to be a new trivia contest starting at 4:30pm at the Courtyard that is open to anyone to participate, with prizes to be awarded. The cost for a team of four that is not participating in the bike ride is $40. Click here to purchase tickets in advance.
