A Lohrville man was recently sentenced to probation for a burglary incident that took place in Greene County in August of 2024.

According to court documents, 48-year-old Damon McDonald pled guilty to a Class D Felony for third degree burglary. He had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.

The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office from August 7th. Court documents show that McDonald was burglarizing a residence in Churdan and deputies were able to identify the suspect from a photo by a security camera on the property. An executed search warrant of McDonald’s home in Lohrville recovered a memory card that was labeled from the missing trail camera.

According to the plea agreement, the other charges against McDonald were dismissed, which included two simple misdemeanors for fifth degree criminal mischief and fifth degree theft, along with a citation for driving with a suspended license. McDonald was declared as indigent and did not have to pay any fines, surcharges, or court costs.
