With the five seniors that graduated in 2024 from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team, junior Macy Person is preparing to step up in any possible way.
Person, who transitions between second base and the outfield, grew up in a softball household as her older sister Brylee played for the Tigers and her father coached the sport. She says as the first game approaches on Tuesday, the team is focusing on practicing live game scenarios. During the 2024 season, Person played in 28 games, scored 11 runs off 15 hits, and knows that there are some tough shoes to fill, but is up for the challenge.
“Stepping up and taking some of those roles of the seniors we lost. And then just like a lot of communication, make sure I’m talking no matter what, and I like to make sure I’m looking at all of my teammates, and making sure we’re all on the same page.”
Person’s favorite bonding activity with her Tiger teammates includes anything involving food. The first game of the 2025 season for ADM is on Tuesday as Ankeny comes into Adel for Teacher Appreciation Night. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF.
