The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported death from Wednesday night.

According to Sheriff Jack Williams, deputies, along with himself, Greene County Ambulance and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded to a call from the driver of a vehicle at 7:05pm about a passenger that jumped from their vehicle and landed in a ditch on U Avenue near 175th Street. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio, the victim, 22-year-old Johnathon Dorman of Goldfield was pronounced dead at the scene. He says the driver was uninjured.

Williams points out that the incident remains under investigation as they are awaiting the results of an autopsy of Dorman’s body from the State Medical Examiner’s Office. He adds that this case is not being criminally investigated, but that they are following protocol for situations like what happened Wednesday night when a death happens in the county.
