In recent talks over the Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department’s five year construction plan, a series of bridge repairs have been approved.
Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern says that the first bridge project will be taking place south of Dale City to replace the deteriorating deck of a bridge over Beaver Creek. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this project will go to bid in September, and likely begin in 2026, and shares why the time frame is so long.
“And with these larger federal aid projects, we’re kind of at the mercy of schedules and calendars and the review process. There’s a lot more involved when federal dollars are involved.”
Sebern mentions that there will then be three other bridge projects to follow in the next calendar year. He adds that one will be west of Guthrie Center near the Sutcliffe Woodland area where the bridge will be replaced with a new structure, while the second replacement will take place on a bridge south of Coon Rapids and west of what is commonly referred to as Coon Road. Sebern says that the final of the three projects will be near Montieth, just south of the intersection of Monteith Road and Tank Avenue.
