It’s Greene County at Perry in season opening high school softball tonight for both teams. KGRA 98.9 FM will have the Greene County perspective and KDLS 1310 AM will bring listeners the Perry point of view with coverage around 6:45 p.m. and first pitch scheduled for 7 o’clock. It’s varsity only softball tonight with no JV game.

The Rams returning more starters from the past two seasons than there are starting positions, while Perry graduated its starting pitcher from 2024 and other key performers. The Jayettes have a new head coach in former Perry player Emma Olejniczak while the Rams return veteran head coach Tom Kennedy.

Both squads lost more games than they won a season ago with the Rams going 4-20 and the Jayettes 10-19. Perry won both Heart of Iowa Activities Conference games vs. Greene County last season.
