The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board approved a title and summary for the animal protection and control ordinance, along with setting a date for the first reading of the ordinance for June 17th. They then approved fiscal year 2025 Iowa Department of Transportation budget amendment, and a revision to the Secondary Roads Department’s 2025 county five year project plan.

The Board also held a 2024-25 budget amendment hearing, in which they approved the adoption of the amendment, and appropriations for the amendment. They also discussed a right-of-way dispute with the Shelley’s of Penn Township, and a letter will be sent to them about fixing the roadside fences holding their cattle so that they wouldn’t get out anymore and trespass on the County’s right-of-way, which has resulted in numerous calls to the county.

The Board then held a strategy and project planning session, putting together an agenda request form, an appointment application for county board and commissions, a form for external county funding and updating the County’s comprehensive plan.
