Perry boy’s soccer is just one win from a return appearance to the State Tournament. The only team standing in front of them is Knoxville. The two clubs will meet at Dewey Field tonight at 7P a match you can hear at 6:45P on KDLS.
The Panthers come from the South Central Conference and bolster an impressive 12-1-3 record. Perry enters the match at 10-4-3 after beating South Tama 4-1. Bluejays manager, Gary Overla, knows the competition level is going to step up in the Substate Final.
“Technically, they might not be as sound as we are, but tactically they’re pretty good.”
In the short time since knowing they’d meet, Overla has been trying to learn as much as possible.
“We know that they run a 3-4-3 and they tend to be pretty methodical with where they put their players on the field.”
Coach wants his team to remember the past, but also accomplish something that has never happened at Perry. The Bluejays have never qualified for State in three straight seasons and a win over Knoxville will do just that.
“Don’t forget the people that came before you. That’s something that this team could add to the legacy.”
Kickoff set for 7P for the Substate Final tonight at Dewey Field. Tune in to 94.3, 99.7, and AM 1310 KDLS for the action
