One popular outdoor activity in Dallas Center is opening soon.
According to Roller Skate Rink Manager Darla MacConell, the skating rink, which is located at Mound Park, 601 Percival Avenue, is opening tomorrow and it is free for anyone to use. She details that skates will be available on site for guests from toddlers to adults when the rink is open, but people are invited to bring their own. MacConell reveals some of the fun special nights happening during the summer.
“We’re doing a ‘Candyland’ theme with a skate park twist in June. July we’ll do a country western (style theme), August, we’re doing a ‘Decades Day,’ and then (in) September we’re doing a glow party.”
MacConell illustrates the skating rink has been in operation since the late 1940s and was upgraded in the early 1990s. She adds that the rink opens tomorrow, then will be available through September. The hours will be from 7-9pm Tuesdays and Fridays through August, and then solely on Fridays during the month of September from 6-8pm. However, she describes that the rink is open anytime, but employees won’t be there outside of the aforementioned hours.
