The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department has announced the opening day of the Jefferson Municipal Pool for the season.

According to JPRD, the first day is slated for June 1st. Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer says the daily hours for the pool include 11:30am-1pm is adult and senior swim, 1-5pm is the general swim time, 5-6pm is adult and family swim with children accompanied by parents, and 6-8pm is back to general swim time. The daily admission price is $6 for adults, $5 for children and kids two and younger are free. As for a season pass, Pohlmeyer says a child that is 3-17 years old is $70, a senior citizen that is 65 and older is $65, a season pass for a single adult that is 18-64 is $85, and a family pass is $155.

On top of that, Pohlmeyer notes that the four free weeks of swimming lessons are going fast. He states that the first week is from June 23rd-27th and is sponsored by Jefferson Family Dentistry, then Home State Bank is sponsoring the second week which is from July 7th-11th. The third week takes place from July 14th-18th and is sponsored by Greene County Medical Center. The final week is sponsored by M&W Ag Supply and is scheduled for July 28th-August 1st. He talks about the limited spaces that are left for these free swimming lesson opportunities.

“The first two (weeks), there are openings but they are going fast. The fourth one’s pretty open, and the third one’s pretty open. A big point of emphasis for this is (the) first, third and fourth weeks are all held at the same time which is that 10:30-11:15(am) time period. The second week is going to be held in the afternoons. So for that one, it’s going to be 5:30-6:15(pm).”
