
Class 3A fifth ranked PCM (Monroe) was a 7-0 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball winner in Jefferson vs. Greene County on Wednesday night. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams fell to 1-1 in the conference and overall while the Mustangs are now 2-0.
Sophomore Bellah Johnson broke up a would-be perfect game from freshman Cameron Webb with a sixth inning single. Webb struck the Rams out seven times, with no walks and she did not hit anyone with a pitch. PCM played errorless defense. Sophomore Alaina Heard took the pitching loss for the Rams, allowing six earned runs on seven hits, six singles, five walks, and two batters hit with pitches. Greene County was charged with one error. Freshman Libby Winters had three hits and drove in three runs for PCM.
The Rams next play on Friday night in Nevada in another HOIAC contest.
