Bluejays surrendered an opening minute goal to Jensen Finnegan as they fell in the final to Knoxville at Dewey Field 4-1 on Thursday.

Perry soccer had aspirations of making school history by returning to the State Tournament for a third straight year.  The visiting Panthers ruined that dream scoring in the 1st minute.  They weren’t done in the first half as Cael Cook connected on a penalty kick in the 10th minute.  This wasn’t the only time the referees would be heard from as Perry trailed 2-0 at half.  The Bluejays came out on fire in the second half.  Jacobo Cerna-Gomez found the back of the net in the 42nd minute and Perry gained all the momentum.

Seven cards were handed out, but the most important was the red card Jonathan Banuelos received in the 51st minute.  Perry was forced to play short handed the remaining of the game.  Knoxville would score twice during that stretch to extend the lead to 4-1.

Perry ends the season 10-4-3 in the Substate Final.
