The AC/GC Chargers baseball and softball teams each dropped a set of doubleheader games to the Des Moines Christian Lions.
The Chargers softball team held off the Lions fairly well for a few innings in the first game, sitting at a deficit of 3-0 in the third inning, though the Lions eventually packed on some runs, and the game ended 11-1. In their second game of the night, the Chargers were three up, three down in the first inning, and the Lions were able to start off in rhythm, running through the lineup once, then through the top three once again to pick up eight runs in the first inning.
AC/GC strung together four batters in the second inning, but came up just short of collecting a run, with DMC fielding five batters, and able to pick up a run. Both teams were held scoreless in the remaining three innings, and the game ended with a 9-0 loss for the Chargers. Junior Karli Kautzky had the most hits for the Chargers, with two. The baseball team finished the night with a loss of 12-7 in their first game, and a loss of 16-6 in the second. Chargers baseball returns to action tonight as they take on the Exira-EHK Spartans, with first pitch at 5pm.
