
On Friday the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs girls soccer team played host to the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs for the Class 2A region two championship. DCG would defeat the Monarchs 8-0, claiming their regional championship and punching their ticket to the state tournament.
The Mustang girls would find success from the opening whistle, as senior Landry Glasgow would score twice in the first half, the first in the fourth minute of the game, then the second, in the 25th minute. Two other Mustangs would score in the first half, as senior Alexandra Hofbauer would score in the 20th minute while senior Alexa Gill would score the final goal of the first half in the 33rd minute bringing the halftime score to 4-0 in favor of the Mustangs.
In the second half, freshman Paisley Heidgerken would put on a show achieving the hat trick, scoring in the 55th and twice in the 65th minute. In the 68th minute, sophomore Anna Mikkelsen would score the final goal for the Mustangs, crowning them regional champions with 8-0 victory over the Monarchs.
DCG returns to the state tournament after winning the regional championship again, defeating the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs 8-0.
