Win number one for the Greene County baseball team came on Friday night in Nevada with Coach Kyle Stalder’s Rams knocking off Nevada 8-6. Greene County improves to 1-2 after not scoring a run in the first two games of the season, while the Cubs fall to 4-2.

Senior Crew Conner was the winning pitcher and senior Camden Jacobs picked up the save. Conner went five innings and allowed five runs, all earned, on seven hits one walk, and a hit batsman, to go with two strikeouts. Jacobs fanned five Cubs in his two innings of work. He gave up an unearned run on no hits, one walk, and a hit batter.

Senior Isaac Carman knocked in three runs and he collected three singles. Senior Noah Hinote doubled and drove in a run while senior Lane Fields had a single and one RBI. Junior Teagan Chisholm singled and drove in one, and Conner added a base hit. Sophomore Zach Stalder knocked in one run.

The Rams had seven hits, three more than they totaled in the first two games combined. Greene County is off the rest of the weekend, then plays three in a row at home at Allenworth Field with Roland-Story (Story City) visiting on Monday, Carroll High Tuesday, and Saydel (Des Moines) on Wednesday.
