On Friday the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs baseball and softball teams traveled to Pella High School to face off against the Dutch. Both Mustangs teams would come out victorious, as the Mustangs baseball team would win 5-2 while the DCG softball team would defeat the Dutch 6-1.

In baseball action, Brady Smith would get the starting nod on the mound and would pitch through five complete innings. The Mustangs would score one run in the first, before the Dutch would respond with two of their own. The Mustangs would retake the lead in the fourth scoring two more runs, then would secure the victory in the top of the seventh as Cross Bandy would hit a single scoring Tate Perrin. Lincoln Harris would pitch the final two innings for the Mustangs, helping secure the 5-2 victory.

In softball action, Tessa Jones would pitch a complete game against the Dutch in the 6-2 victory. The Mustangs would be firing on all cylinders during the contest, scoring twice in the top of the first, once in the third, twice in the sixth and one final run in the seventh.

Both teams return to action at home on Monday for double header action against the Oskaloosa Indians. Baseball’s first pitch is scheduled for 5pm while softball is scheduled for 5:30.
