Adel-DeSoto-Minburn sophomore Makenna Pitlick and senior Madi James had huge individual games on Saturday, as the Tigers went 2-0 in the Winterset Softball Tournament.

ADM grabbed two victories before the calendar flipped to June, as they defeated Creston 7-4 and then Interstate 35 12-2. In the first game against the Panthers, the Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, then Creston tied things in the fourth inning at 3-3, before ADM got the lead back in the bottom half, and proceeded to capture one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning to win 7-4.

James had three hits with four RBI’s, scoring twice on two home runs. Pitlick received the win with six innings pitched and struck out four batters.

In the second game, the Roadrunners garnered the first two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Tigers would respond with six in the bottom half and would never look back. ADM would go on to get three more runs in the second and another three in the third to carry them to a 12-2 victory. Pitlick had a monster game with two hits, six RBI’s, then scored twice off of two home runs. She also pitched two innings, acquiring one strikeout, and freshman Chloe Olthoff went two innings. Junior Lauren Hagedorn had two hits, scoring two runs, and added one RBI.

The Tigers are now 3-1 on the season, as they will play their first conference game of the year today as it will be a double header against Boone, on the road at the Gary Creasman Field beginning at 5pm, with the second game to follow.
