If the weather allows, the Greene County High School baseball team starts a three game home stand tonight at Allensworth Field in Jefferson. It’s Roland-Story (Story City) visiting the Rams tonight, then non-conference opponent Carroll High tomorrow night on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com, followed by Saydel (Des Moines) and the Rams on Wednesday night.

The Rams are 1-2 overall and in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference after getting in the win column on Friday night on the road at Nevada, 8-6. The Rams are halfway to the two wins the 2024 team totaled, and they’ve already equaled the number of HOIAC victories from a season ago. R-S is 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

Coach Kyle Stalder’s team relies heavily on six seniors, most of whom pitch, and the early season results on the mound have shown improvement from 2024. The defense, likewise, is better, in the early going, and after two shut out losses to start 2025, the offense came alive at Nevada with eight runs.
