Fresh produce is making its way to Dallas County, as the Adel Farmer’s Market starts up tomorrow.
Organizer Gretchen York tells Raccoon Valley Radio approximately 30 local businesses will be participating in the farmer’s market on a weekly basis, which takes place at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel. She discusses special themed nights that are happening featuring the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office coming out bringing their dog Maverick in June, followed by Christmas in July, and then a Public Safety Night with the Adel Fire Department in August. York, who operates two small businesses, looks at the farmer’s market as a way to support those organizations.
“Whether in Adel itself or the surrounding communities. I always look forward to bringing everybody together, having food and drinks on site and having it out on the fairgrounds is great, there’s plenty of space for people to bring their kids, so they can run around while their parents shop, listen to music and an evening where people can sit and relax, and get together while shopping some great local vendors that we have.”
York mentions that the market runs through September, but she expresses that they will still be at the fairgrounds on Tuesdays after that until there is a hard freeze on all the vegetables.
