The AC/GC Chargers were in Ogden last night for softball and baseball, and split the games with the Bulldogs.

Both games were plagued by strong winds, with pop up hits being blown around frequently. It was especially noticeable in the softball game, where anything that was hit down the third base line was pushed foul if it wasn’t on the ground to begin with. Both softball teams saw issues thanks to this, but worked to make up for it while on defense. Both teams were held scoreless in the first two innings, and in the third the Bulldogs picked up three runs on five hits, while the Chargers remained scoreless. AC/GC was unable to score in the fourth inning as well, while Ogden put up five more runs. Both teams recorded two runs in the fifth inning, ending the game with a 10-2 loss for the Chargers.

AC/GC recorded five hits on the night, a single from Jayla Hoover, a double from Karli Kautzky, a double from Caydence Boals, a single from Kailee Kautzky, and a single from Savannah Akers.

In the baseball game, the Chargers started off strong, putting up four runs in the first inning, then five in the fifth and another four in the seventh inning, while only allowing six total runs from the Bulldogs, finishing the game with the 13-6 victory, their second win of the season. Head Coach Nick McCool says that the big innings came from a great job of moving runners, and being able to bring the bats to life and get such good hits from the plate. He adds that Tommy Skram started off the pitching for the team, and had a great five inning stretch, only allowing three runs.
