Monday night softball on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com had the Greene County Rams hosting the Norsemen from Roland-Story (Story City) with R-S winning the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference contest by a final of 6-3 in eight innings. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are now 2-4  overall and 2-2 in conference play while R-S is 3-1 and 2-0.

Sophomore Alaina Heard was on the pitching rubber for the Rams. Throwing over 150 pitches and striking out 17 R-S batters were both career bests for Heard. She walked eight and hit one batter. The Rams had four errors and the first two runs were unearned. The Rams were up 3-2 with two outs in the top of the seventh, but Keely Oberrender doubled in the game tying run. Three runs in the R-S eighth were scored on one hit. Three walks and a hit batter in that frame aided the Norsemen.

Junior Becca Anderson had a double and two singles to lead the eight hit attack for the Rams. and she knocked in a run. Sophomore Sara Morlan singled twice and had one run batted in, while senior Payton Kokenge singled twice. Sophomore Makenna Ebersole added a base hit.

Greene County plays Grand View Christian tonight in Des Moines in another conference contest, weather permitting.
