On Monday the West Central Valley Wildcats boys soccer team traveled to Hudson for the quarterfinals of the Class 1A state soccer championships. The Wildcats would fight until the end, but unfortunately would fall to the Pirates 2-0, ending the Wildcats’ soccer season.
The Pirates would be on the defensive for most of the game as the Wildcats keeper Gabe Gerling would get his money’s worth against Hudson as he would have eight saves against in the first half alone. Alan Diaz and Aiden Brandon would try to get runs going for the Wildcats, but would not be able to work past the Pirates defense eventually falling to Hudson 2-0.
The Wildcats end their soccer season with a 16-1-1 record, but made school history with the first undefeated season in program history. Seniors Alan Diaz and Juma Kurbonov wrap up their soccer careers as regional champions and state qualifiers.
