The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board first discussed with Guthrie County Sheriff Matt Harmann on the purchase of vehicles for the sheriff’s office, and didn’t take action as the purchases were within the department’s budget. Harmann shared that he had looked at the least expensive options, and that he was hoping to get the vehicle replacement cycle for the sheriff’s office back on track.

The Board then entered a strategy planning session, and discussed employee evaluation forms, opioid fund usage, and current projects. During discussion on employee evaluation, Supervisor Steve Smith asked what they, and what Human Resources Director Jaime Lindsay got back from the current process, and if there’s anything they would change. Supervisor Mike Dickson mentioned that he does like the discussion type questions and portion of the process, along with the feedback, but would like to see repetitive or redundant questions removed.

Board Chair Supervisor Maggie Armstrong shared she felt that the process was backwards, where the Board set goals for employees. She added that she would like to see the process reversed, and have the employees name a few goals they have for the year, and then have them share them with the Board, and share progress on those goals. The Board agreed to have Smith work on a rebuilt version of the evaluation process and form, which he would bring back to the rest of the Board for review.

During discussion on opioid fund usage, Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber shared remediation usage for the funds, and what programs the county was currently implementing. Arber will work to list out ways for the current fiscal years opioid settlement funds to be used, and bring it back to the Board.
